A local art show had a call for art. The theme was "What's Cooking?"
I was inspired by a vintage Fire King red dot bowl from my gran.
I always love researching the time period of objects. The dot bowl is 1950s. But most of the items shown are from the 1940s. I found that during the 20s-40s women were using old flour sacks to create clothing for their families. When the flour and seed sack companies realized this, they started manufacturing flour sacks with colorful patterns. Here's one resource: https://lisalouisecooke.com/2017/11/01/flour-sack-dresses/
Just a sample of the patterns of flour sacks. I wish they still printed them!
Wooden handles and making of a lace tablecloth. I personally wouldn't be baking with a lace tablecloth, but I think it added some texture to the art.
Vintage Jadeite measuring cup was added. Did you know how to tell if it's real jadeite? Shine a light or flashlight inside, if it glows, it's real!
All framed and finished. It took me a while to come up with the name.
But it had to be A Family Recipe.
I love the connections of families through cooking.
