I'm published!!

WOO HOO! I’m featured in the latest Uppercase an international magazine 🥰 An absolute honor! Uppercase is a delicious treat for any creative, I savor each page.

Here’s the article:

Who am I? I try to find the answers in my art and living my life. I have been an artist since I was a child. Drawing stick figures on tiny pieces of paper and proudly hanging them on my Gran’s door. Someone once described me as a strong tree that has deep roots with whimsical branches dancing in the breeze. The earth has always been grounding for me. The world is fascinating that I feel I have to capture it.

Illustration found me. I was selling my art at my local farmer’s market and someone asked if I’d illustrate her children’s book. The rest is history. Each book that I illustrate has a different look that fits the mood and style of the story. I’ve created illustrations by cutting scraps of paper, using glue to collage animals into sweet little scenes. Other books are created in Procreate.

My endless curiosity about how the world works helps me as an illustrator. Every day I find a few dire questions that need answers. How to grow sesame seeds, or why do crickets sing? (Note: The male cricket is the only one that sing a song to attract his mate.) This eagerness to learn makes me a perfect sleuth for researching topics to illustrate. Sometimes I’m a botanist or a zoologist. I’m a graphic designer which is a perfect pairing with illustration. You must always go with the flow in between illustration projects.

Human-made illustration is important. Artificial intelligence cannot compare to a human on a deep, authentic level. Humans bring meaning, emotion and connection that is real, it’s something that you can feel in your soul.
