Pieces of the Journey - original

Along the way, we collect things.

Some are bright and joyful. Others are dark, worn, or scarred by time. Some arrive unexpectedly, while others are pieces we search for and hold onto because they mean something only we can understand.

Each piece becomes part of our story.

I imagine these stones gathered from different places and different moments. No two are alike. Some are smooth and quiet. Others are bold, colorful, and full of texture. A few seem almost fragile, while others feel as though they have weathered storms and carried on.

We move through life collecting pieces of where we've been—people we've loved, places we've discovered, challenges we've overcome, moments of wonder, and memories we never want to forget. Some pieces fit together easily. Others seem completely out of place until we step back and see the whole picture. The white space between each stone reminds me that there is room for what comes next.

And somewhere along the way, we discover that even the broken, unexpected, and imperfect pieces have become part of something beautiful.

These are the pieces of my journey.

This is an original painting on birch wood with acrylic, ink and flecks of gold and silver paint. The white area is highly textured while the stones are glossy.
